This cup was thrown on the potter’s wheel using a smooth, rich terracotta clay. These pieces are made to be used and enjoyed on a regular basis. All materials are food, dishwasher and microwave safe (no higher than medium setting).

The imagery was applied to this piece using “mono- print” technique. The pattern was drawn by hand on a piece of newsprint paper and then multiple layers of under-glaze and slip were added to create depth within the imagery. After all the details were painted, this image was painted with a layer of white slip, adding the white background to the pattern. While the slip was wet, the paper was pressed against the cup form. Pressure from a wet sponge was applied to the paper causing the image to transfer similarly to a temporary tattoo.
